Field-based practical on marine environment conducted at Sulipuram and Mathakal
On 11th June 2024, Level 3 students of the Department of Bio-Science participated in a field-based practical session under the course module ENS3232 Marine Environment and Management. The practical was conducted under the guidance of Dr. A.E.S. Patrick, Practical in-charge and Senior Lecturer, Department of Bio-Science.
The session was held in the marine waters of Sulipuram and Mathakal, providing students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the application of laboratory techniques in a real-world marine environment. The main objectives of the practical were to study underwater sampling methods and to measure the primary productivity of marine water using field-adapted laboratory techniques.
Students were actively involved in investigating seagrass ecosystems, assessing primary productivity, and practicing underwater sampling techniques, thereby strengthening their practical skills and understanding of marine ecological processes.
