Ecotourism community awareness program

The Level II students of the Department of Bio-science conducted an outreach program as a part of the course module ENS2262 (Ecotourism) for the Primary School students of V/Ayesha Maha Vidyalaya (closest school to the University). The main aim of this outreach program was to entertain and educate the students about the local forest ecosystem and to make them interested in its nature and the importance of conservation. This program also helps to disseminate the knowledge obtained by the students to the community via practical demonstration and by providing the live experience of forest adventure. This project acts as an initiative to establish “The Ecotourism Unit” in the Faculty of Applied Science. This program was conducted as a part of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Faculty of Applied Science and was sponsored by the FAS AHEAD ELTA/ELSE project.
