Sea Cucumber Documentary
On 21st May 2025, the Environmental Science Society (ENSOC) brought the ocean to life at the EBL Laboratory through a thought-provoking documentary screening on sea cucumber conservation and farming. The film revealed how these humble creatures quietly safeguard marine ecosystems, while also uncovering the rising threats of overharvesting and unregulated practices. It painted a powerful picture of conflict, as traditional fishermen voiced concerns over lost fishing grounds, damaged habitats, and widening economic gaps. The evening concluded with an engaging group discussion, where students and participants explored fresh ideas for balancing marine protection with sustainable, community-friendly aquaculture.
